Surah Al Furqan Ayat 3 Translation Tafseer

Para 18 - قَدْ اَفْلَحَ

سورة الفرقان

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

25.3

وَ اتَّخَذُوْا مِنْ دُوْنِهٖۤ اٰلِهَةً لَّا یَخْلُقُوْنَ شَیْــٴًـا وَّ هُمْ یُخْلَقُوْنَ وَ لَا یَمْلِكُوْنَ لِاَنْفُسِهِمْ ضَرًّا وَّ لَا نَفْعًا وَّ لَا یَمْلِكُوْنَ مَوْتًا وَّ لَا حَیٰوةً وَّ لَا نُشُوْرًا(3)

Kanz-ul-Irfan

And they took gods other than Him who do not create anything, rather, they are created. And they have no control over harm or benefit for themselves and they have no control over death or life or resurrection.[1]

Authoritative scholars have explained that the inability to remove harm applies to the idols; none have inferred the saints by this. In today’s age, some people apply this verse to the saints of Islam, which is incorrect and akin to distorting the meaning of the Quran. Ascribing verses that were revealed about idols to the noble Prophets عَـلَـيْهِمُ السَّلَام and blessed Saints رَحِمَهُمُ الـلّٰـه is the way of the Khawārij (Seceders). The Muslims honour the saints and consider them to be a means (wasīlah); they do not worship them, and there is an undeniable difference between considering something a means and worshipping it.
